PRACTICAL DETAILS FOR YOUR NEXT STEP

Understand your care options.

Helpful details, clear questions and the information to prepare before making an arrangement.

01

Everyday personal assistance

Private caregiver support centres on the daily activities the person cannot comfortably manage alone: washing, dressing, toileting, meals and getting around the home. MCS publishes both stay-in and stay-out options. A written task list makes the requested assistance clear and prevents unrelated household duties being treated as part of personal care.

02

Meals and company

Meal preparation, assistance at mealtimes and companionship are part of the everyday support described in the MCS service and package information. Include the person’s preferred mealtimes, food preferences and communication needs in the briefing. Feeding assistance must follow the person’s own clinical instructions when swallowing or tube-related needs are present.

03

Choosing hours and a package

Monthly stay-in packages start at RM4,500. Stay-out packages provide defined daily shifts of six, eight, ten or twelve hours, six days per week. Compare the periods when help is needed with those published windows; a monthly fee is not unlimited attendance. Package Details lists the services associated with each tier.

04

Choosing a private caregiver schedule in Malaysia

Think about the parts of the day when family help is unavailable. A stay-out shift may suit a defined daytime routine, while a stay-in arrangement requires a separate discussion about accommodation, rest and overnight needs. Request an assessment of the schedule rather than choosing solely by price.

  • Identify the busiest care hours
  • Compare stay-in and stay-out
  • Confirm rest and off-day cover
05

Preparing for the first caregiver visit

Prepare a simple introduction to the home and the person receiving care. Show where agreed supplies are kept and explain who to contact if plans change. Ask the caregiver to repeat the important routines so everyone can check the same understanding before the first shift.

  • Introduce the family contact
  • Explain access and supplies
  • Review the agreed task list
06

Reviewing the arrangement as needs change

The first agreement is a starting point for discussion. If the family notices that the current hours or duties no longer fit, contact MCS and explain what has changed. Ask about revised staffing and pricing before adding new tasks, particularly when the treating team requests clinical care.

  • Discuss new support needs
  • Confirm revised hours and charges
  • Update the written scope

Helpful answers.

Can a caregiver perform nursing procedures?

Personal care and clinical nursing are different. Tell us about any wound, tube, catheter or other clinical needs so suitable qualified care can be assessed.

How do I choose hours?

List the times when support is needed, including evenings and nights, then compare live-in and scheduled daytime options.
