Hospital Sitter Malaysia

A familiar presence. Through a hospital stay.

PRACTICAL DETAILS FOR YOUR NEXT STEP

Understand your care options.

Helpful details, clear questions and the information to prepare before making an arrangement.

01

Published daily sitter rates

The MCS twelve-hour hospital sitter rate is RM190 for care plus RM20 food allowance: RM210 total per day. The stay-in sitter list is RM250 care plus RM40 food allowance: RM290 total per day. The published totals separate the allowance from the care fee.

02

Companionship and personal assistance

A hospital sitter provides agreed bedside personal support and company alongside the ward team. This does not replace hospital clinical care. The hospital’s access rules, visitor or attendant permission and permitted tasks determine how bedside support can work for the patient.

03

Prepare the hospital enquiry

Include the hospital name, ward if known, patient’s daily assistance needs, requested start date and shift. Identify the family coordinator and what the ward team already provides. For a stay-in request, specify overnight needs and rest arrangements; the label alone does not define continuous awake coverage.

04

Understanding the sitter’s bedside role

Discuss the personal assistance and companionship the patient needs during the hospital stay. A hospital sitter should work within the ward’s permission and the agreed scope. Clinical decisions, medicines and procedures remain matters for authorised hospital staff and any appropriately qualified professional assigned to those duties.

  • Explain personal support needs
  • Confirm ward permission
  • Keep clinical duties separate
05

Preparing a hospital sitter booking

Include the hospital name, ward or room if known, expected shift hours and a family contact. Confirm access requirements directly with the ward because visitor and attendant arrangements can differ. Share the likely duration of the stay and ask how extensions or a change of ward are handled.

  • Provide hospital and ward details
  • Check access requirements
  • Discuss extensions and handover
06

Daily hospital sitter rates and allowances

The supplied list shows RM210 per day for a twelve-hour stay-out arrangement, including RM20 food allowance, and RM290 for the stay-in arrangement, including RM40 food allowance. Confirm the actual hours, rest periods, hospital permission and availability before treating either option as a confirmed booking.

  • Check the total daily quotation
  • Confirm food allowance
  • Agree shift and rest arrangements

Helpful answers.

Does a sitter replace ward nurses?

No. Sitters do not replace hospital nursing staff. Refer clinical treatment and medication decisions to the ward team.
